Description

Fibonacci Spiral earrings are super lightweight and 3D printed using a plant based material called PLA. It is biodegradable and will not be filling up our landfills for years to come.

I look for compelling and eye catching themes in nature, math, and world mythology to draw inspiration. I also use royalty-free public domain clipart as a starting point which I alter to my liking. I create the initial shapes in Adobe Illustrator, then I use other software to turn the flat rendering into a dimensional shape in a format that can be read by my 3D Printer. I use plant based biodegradable plastic filament called PLA that comes on large spools. The 3D printer extrudes or “squeezes out” the filament out of a very hot nozzle to slowly build up the shape.

Because every piece is made individually, and because of the nature of the filament, there may be slight differences in the way each earring prints out. It does not affect the overall shape but each one is still unique.
