If you are like me, many times, it feels like your workload is taking over your life. With many people working from home, the lines between work and free time become blurred, and you may feel like you are in a constant state of “work mode.” As stress kicks in, it is easy to become overwhelmed and feel like you are losing control. Here are some tips to reduce stress and increase productivity:
1. Physical exercise:
Regular exercise can be very beneficial for your mind and body. While you are exercising, your body releases endorphins, which help you feel better and maintain a positive attitude. Choose a non-competitive activity and set reasonable goals. I always find that a good workout clears the mind and leaves me refreshed and ready to take on a challenge.
2. Develop the habit to say “No”:
It is often the unsolicited requests and demands that bottle up your time and create stress in life. It can be hard to turn down a friend or co-worker, but you don’t always have to meet others’ expectations or demands. Saying “NO” to unsolicited requests can free up your time so you can focus on what is important to you.
3. Eat and drink sensibly
Alcohol and junk food may feel like it reduces stress in the moment, but frequent drinking and bad eating choices can be detrimental to your mental and physical health. What’s more, it can create even more stress in your life as your psychological and physical health deteriorates.
4.Practice relaxation techniques
Make time every day to relax and take your mind away from the stress. A few minutes spent on a relaxation technique can work wonders if practiced every day.
5. Get 7-9 Hours of Sleep
Getting enough sleep every night is essential for reducing stress. When you sleep, your body and mind recharge for the next day, and without a good night’s sleep, you will find yourself running on empty.
Stress can take a toll on our lives. While some stress is natural, too much stress can become overwhelming. By taking steps to relax and recharge, we can take control of stress and live our lives to the fullest.
