Just Artisan’s search is how many buyers look for products. When someone searches for an item on Just Artisan, our search algorithm works to return the most relevant products. As a seller, the way you structure your listings will impact how often your product appears in search. To optimize your listings, we have compiled the following guide, in order of importance:
Your product title is the number one factor that determines your search placement. Use your title to describe your product in a few words. Our search algorithm only searches the first 30 characters of a title, so be sure to focus on your product title’s first 3-5 words. We have implemented this to encourage vendors to create clear and descriptive titles for products.
A tag is a word or short phrase that describes your product. Tags are used by our search algorithm when someone searches for products.
Here are some tips for creating great tags:
- Use multi-word phrases that are more likely to convert. For example, the tag “modern decor” will show in searches for “modern” and “decor.”
- Our search engine will give an equal weighting to both single and plural words. For example, the tag “candle” will be given the same relevance as the tag “candles.”
- Make sure your tags are spelled correctly. Misspelled tags are less likely to appear in search.
- In your tags, include relevant information on materials, style, size, and target audience.
Your product category plays an essential role in the search. To determine relevance, we give an equal weighting to tags and product categories. For this reason, it is unnecessary to include the product category in your tags.
Finally, our search algorithm considers your listings description. Due to the description’s long nature, it is the lowest weighted component of your product listings. While it may be tempting to fill your product description with keywords, remember to keep your wording clear and concise, so buyers know what your product offers.
