The Bumblebear is a fascinating specimen which has stumped the best zoologists of multiple dimensions. Bearing similarities to bear, bird, and bee, its closest relative could be Earth’s Malayan Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) or possibly the Buzzing Taka Cat (Susurrus flavocattus) of the Menkar system. Perhaps due to an unquenchable thirst for honey, this critter has developed a unique camouflage mimicking the coloring of the ubiquitous honey bee. Alas, the bumblebear is not particularly smart, and camouflage is not enough as they are twenty to thirty times larger than your average bee; the hive usually manages to chase one off before it can consume all of their honey reserves.
But a bumblebear can dream… dream of Honey Valhalla where the hives are plentiful and poorly guarded, and honey flows freely down pastel hills under watchful red clouds.

Reclaimed 20 gauge aluminum sheet metal has been hand hammered into a custom form of our own design. All edges are manually hemmed to the back. Piece comes ready to hang with a handmade galvanized steel clip.
The bumblebear form (sans wings) is raised from the rest of this piece in a gentle curve. After the metal is hammered and hemmed, we clean the piece thoroughly and use an automotive primer as a durable base coat. The entire piece is painted by hand in a multi-layered approach taking many hours. On this piece I used a combination of soft and medium body acrylic paints, as well as dry blocks of acrylic pigment to create a watercolor effect overlay. Though I work from sketches, I take many twists and turns while painting which brings you a one of a kind piece we couldn’t replicate if we tried.
Clear coated in Matte.

Shipping
◾️ Your art will be securely protected with cardboard, bubble wrap and packing paper, sent with tracking and insurance. When we can, we like to reuse and recycle shipping boxes and materials.
◾️ We will ship to the address on your receipt, please make sure the information is up to date when placing your order.
◾️ If an item is damaged in shipping, you must contact us right away. Provide photos of the item and original packaging, and we will work together to initiate a claim with the shipper.
Care instructions
◾️ Display your art piece indoors and out of direct sunlight.
◾Dust occasionally with a feather duster or dry cloth. If the piece needs actual cleaning, don’t submerge it in water or use harsh cleansers — slightly dampen a lint-free cloth or soft sponge with plain water and gently wipe the surface of the art and air dry. Anything more critical, contact us with a description and photos and we’ll try to guide you!
