Read how Craig became used his inspiration from Bob Ross to create stunning landscape paintings on his shop Bayou Sunset Arts!
Tell us about your products? Why did you choose the products and where did you learn your craft?
I describe my products as “Anywhere Art”. I paint a lot of large canvas landscapes. Not everyone has the budget or the room for large pieces of artwork. Therefore, I started painting on small surfaces. It was fun, challenging and something anyone could enjoy. My mini paintings are perfect for the office, dormitory, or small apartments. I started painting in 2017 by following Bob Ross on YouTube. I got bit by the painting bug and have been on a quest to unlock my full artistic potential ever since.
What’s your favorite part of the making process?
Mini paintings are challenging but that’s what makes it fun. I find the whole process relaxing while sitting at the desk painting to tunes that power the soul.
How do you stay motivated?
The challenge of creating detailed landscapes on tiny surfaces. The sales definitely help too. 😉
What is your favorite product you make or material you work with and why?
My favorite product is not actually listed in my store yet. I love painting large landscapes as well as still life fruit paintings. I’m working on some listings for those products I have in stock at the moment.
Where do you turn for inspiration? What is your creative process like?
Nature is my inspiration. Sometimes I take photos of the scenery around me or friends and family send me photos for inspiration. I choose subjects that have color, detail, and depth. My creative process involves studying the scene and figuring out which colors the features are composed of, which brushes will create the best effect and how I can compose the scene onto a small canvas or other surface.
What are you hoping to accomplish through Just Artisan?
I’m hoping Just Artisan can be an avenue for people to find purely hand-made arts and crafts where people can bring a bit of happiness home.
What does success look like to you?
I’m a simple man. If I can sell any of my artistic creations, I consider it a success.
