This one of a kind art piece is made from reclaimed aluminum 2mm thick. Its retrofuturistic boomerang shape was hand drawn on the sheet aluminum and hand cut, as is the cat shape and speech bubble. All edges were manually filed smooth. Both the speech bubble and cat are mechanically attached to the backplate which correspond to two hanging attachments– you can hang this piece in whichever orientation is most pleasing to you.
After the metalwork was completed the entire piece was cleaned and coated with a high fill primer. The space background, astronaut cat and language are entirely hand painted. It is especially enjoyable for me to paint hazy nebula: I use a combination of soft body acrylics and dry blocks of compressed pigment to build up multiple thin layers of paint to create an illusion of depth. The ECLSS (Environmental Control Life Support System, aka spacesuit) has a touch of neon green and shaded baby blue accents. The cat’s orange fur is also enhanced with neon paint.
As for what PFC Tambourine is saying, that is unknown to me and up to you to interpret.
(not pictured) artist signatures and creation date are hand engraved on the back of the art
Measurements are slightly awkward to take on an irregular piece like this–
Width: 12 3/4 inches. Taken diagonally from the speech bubble and across the spacesuit to what is approximately the widest area.
Height: 9 1/2 inches. Taken from the invisible line between the kitty and speech bubble from top to bottom if the piece is in hanging orientation 2.
Please keep it looking its best by displaying your art indoors and out of direct sunlight.

As online shoppers we are aware of how the colors on our back-lit tablet, phone and computer screens may differ from the colors of an item in-person.
Here at Art Base Alpha we do our best to photograph items accurately and in natural light, but it’s not always perfect. Certain paint colors really throw the camera’s optics off, especially very bright, pigment rich shades and dayglow paints.
The variability of our original paintings means there will be an even greater range of colors to reproduce for you, and no matter how precise we are on our end your personal screen settings may make photos appear darker, lighter or more saturated.
Thank you for understanding! 🌈
