“Down The Point/Luff Farms”
Series: Stories from the North Country, #3
~ Down around the Point is a farm that has been in my memories since I recall having memories. When I was tiny, my grandfather would take us there to visit Mr. Luff. He was the owner, laborer and magic maker. When I was tiny, he was a wizard. Old and weathered, by time and the land, his eyes sparkled with a mischief as he taunted me with the mysteries of his cavernous barns and miniature out buildings. Filled with all manners of terrifying machines and beasts, when one is tiny. Buildings of rich red, skies of bright blue and the roar of the waves that landed close by. He was a wizard and this was his kingdom, when one was tiny. Mr. Luff has long left this world, but the farm remains – rich traditions now carried on by his kin. Still, every time i pass by, its not the glistening white farmhouse nor the great red barns still standing strong against the harsh lake winds that spark my memories – it is his little weathered outbuilding that makes me smile and takes me back. To days when one was tiny.~
