An alternative treat to catnip that’s even more intense!
A tin of fine ground Silvervine Matatabi Powder, which is perfect for rubbing on toys, scratchers, and more. The all natural oils in the fruit are sure to drive your kitty wild!
What does it do and how does it work?
Many cats react to Matatabi (the vine of the Silvervine plant) even if they show little interest to catnip. A 2017 scientific study found 70% of cats had a reaction to catnip, however over 80% of cats had a reaction to silvervine, with many cats enjoying both!
How is it made?
To make our natural Matatabi Powder, we finely grind up natural unprocessed segments of the plants vine called the Actinindia Polygama that is native to the mountains of Eastern Asia. Although relatively unknown in Northern America, the silver vine plant is more popularly used in Japan and China than traditional catnip among cat owners! They are finely powdered to make the perfect toy ‘marinade’. Just rub a pinch or two on a toy, and get all the same effects you get from Matatabi sticks, now easily used with other favorite toys!
The large size tin is 2 fl oz and contains 22 grams of Matatabi silvervine powder. The small size tin is 1 fl oz and contains 12 grams of Matatabi Silvervine powder.
Effects will last anywhere from 5-30 minutes.
Typical behaviors of cats on silvervine include rolling, chin and cheek rubbing, meowing, drooling and licking. Some cats will become kitten-like playing with toys and catching a case of the zoomies. Others will be more relaxed and will chill out in a dreamlike state.
Cats usually begin to respond when they are past 6 months of age, though some may sooner.
***NOTE*** Not all cats react to the essential oils of each plant in the same way. Which they prefer is based on genetics, their mood, the day, and how they like to play. If you are unsure what your cat likes, our variety box is an awesome way to try it all and see what your cat prefers!
