These handmade, rustic heart decorations (shown in Georgia Peach) are the perfect accessory for any Mason jar, vase, bottle, jug, etc. With 18 colors to choose from you can match any decor or occasion. Add two sets in your wedding colors to pint jars, drop in a tea light and you have the perfect table setting for your special day. Add them to a wine bottle for the perfect hostess gift. These can be used and reused in so many ways!
The speckled hearts are crafted from recycled paper clay I make using high quality and durable ingredients. I start with recycled paper (mostly office paper), shred it then pour boiling water over it. After two days, the recycled paper (now pulp) is poured into a muslin cloth and allowed to drain. I mix the pulp with PVA glue and stabilizers. The clay is rolled flat and I hand cut and form each heart. After drying, the hearts are given a coat of acrylic paint, speckled and finished with a uv resistant gloss spar urethane.
The hearts are secured to the jute with a rusted wire wrapping, giving it a finished look. While I have used a simple loop tie in the pictures, there are many ways to tie these beauties (fun tip, Google scarf tying and apply some of the suggestions to your jar charms). Let your creative side play!
The hearts measure approximately 1 ½ inch X 1 ¼ inch. The total length of the finished piece is available in two sizes; 28 inch (approx) for wider jars and 24 inch (approx) for regular jars and wine bottles. If you are unsure of the size you need, it is best to order the 28, or contact me and I will make them in any size you need. If you find that the hearts dangle too low, you can shorten the length by twisting the jute (refer to photos). The glassware/pottery shown is not included.
Because each heart is individually hand cut, formed, painted, speckled and tied, no two will be the same. While each one is crafted with genuine care and love, small imperfections can occur, but it adds to the unique charm of each piece.
